What Could the Proposed Motorsport Park Mean for Moreton Bay?
Updated: 1 day ago

The Moreton Bay Foundation has lodged a submission on the proposed Moreton Motorsport Park development at Beachmere.
The proposed site is connected to King Johns Creek, the Caboolture River catchment, downstream coastal wetlands and ultimately Moreton Bay. As an organisation dedicated to protecting and restoring the environmental, cultural, social and economic values of Moreton Bay, our interest in the proposal relates to its potential environmental impacts on the Bay and its connected waterways.
Our submission examines whether the proposal has adequately assessed and managed potential impacts on water quality, wetlands, wildlife habitat and the ecological values of Moreton Bay.
Drawing on the Blueprint for a Sustainable Moreton Bay and our Sediment Impacts knowledge synthesis, we identify a number of areas where stronger environmental safeguards are warranted, including:
Stormwater, sediment and contaminant management
Flood-related mobilisation of pollutants
Marine plants and cumulative habitat loss
Wetland hydrology and groundwater-dependent ecosystems
Acid sulfate soils and water quality
Artificial light impacts on wildlife
Noise, vibration and ecological disturbance
Cumulative impacts on Moreton Bay values
Long-term monitoring, transparency and adaptive management
Protecting Moreton Bay requires informed, evidence-based decision-making.
If you love the Bay, we encourage you to read the TMBF submission and make their own submission to the Queensland Government.
🗓️ Submissions close 25 June 2026.
