Leave a Gift in Your Will
Why leave a gift in your Will to The Moreton Bay Foundation?
Our vision is for Moreton Bay to be an international treasure, known for its excellent environmental health, biological diversity, ecological sustainability, resilient economy, and Indigenous culture and heritage. Your gift will help preserve Moreton Bay for future generations and ensure that the Foundation can continue to provide a voice for the Bay.
How your gift helps
Your bequest will help fund our research and programs. Gifts in Wills help The Moreton Bay Foundation thrive for the future.
How do I leave a gift in my Will?
As a Will is a legal document, we recommend consulting a solicitor so your wishes are carried out as you intend. There are four ways to leave a gift:
• Pecuniary Bequest – a fixed amount of money.
• Specific Bequest – an asset, such as property, shares or artwork.
• Percentage Bequest – a specified percentage of your estate.
• Residual Bequest – the remainder after debts, charges and other gifts have been distributed.
Types of gifts
An unrestricted bequest can be directed to the areas most in need. A dedicated bequest to the Futures of The Bay Fund can build long-term financial security. A dedicated Program Development bequest can support research and future programs.
Keeping your Will safe and up to date
Keep your Will in a secure location, with your bank or solicitor, and tell your executors where it is stored. Review it every five years or when your circumstances change, including marriage, divorce, births, deaths or changes to your assets.
Wording your gift
Ask your solicitor to prepare wording naming The Moreton Bay Foundation (ABN 77 562 800 947), the amount, percentage or specific asset you wish to give, and any intended purpose. If you already have a Will, ask your solicitor about adding a codicil.
Keeping your Will up-to-date
-
Major life events – marriage, divorce, a new baby, the death of a family member or other significant family event – are a good time to update your Will.
-
Over the years, our situation changes dramatically through births, deaths, marriages, divorce and the acquisition or disposal of property and other assets. A will requires regular periodic examination. Your Will should be reviewed every 5 years, or whenever there is a significant change in your circumstances.
